Despite Cristian Chivu’s insistence, Inter Milan could fail to sign rising Parma star Giovanni Leoni this summer.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri must overcome two significant roadblocks to land the 18-year-old.

Cristian Chivu is desperate to reunite with the teenage center-back after launching his career at Parma last term.

Furthermore, the Serie A runners-up are willing to fulfill his wish, as Leoni fits the club’s new transfer policy.

However, Inter are at risk of missing out on the youngster’s signature.

Inter Milan Face Two Massive Issues in Giovanni Leoni Pursuit

For starters, Parma value Giovanni Leoni at €40 million.

Though Inter are ready to offer around €30m, the Crusaders are reportedly reluctant to budge on their asking price.

Therefore, Inter can either break the bank or walk away.

On top of that, the Nerazzurri face foreign competition for one of Europe’s most highly-rated defenders.

Newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool have set their sights on the Italian prodigy.

And unlike Inter, the Reds have no financial constraints and could meet Parma’s valuation without hesitation.
