Manchester United fans are anxiously awaiting Bruno Fernandes’ final decision on his future amid a lucrative proposal from Al-Hilal.

The Saudi Pro League outfit have given him a matter of days to make his mind up before they pull their offer from the table and pursue alternative targets in time for the Club World Cup.

Fernandes, meanwhile, is said to be giving serious consideration to the blockbuster transfer move, which will see him pull the curtains on his European career at just 30 years old.

Bruno Fernandes’ links with Al-Hilal: The state of play

Ben Jacobs claims Al-Hilal are of the belief that an agreement with the United skipper is ‘close’ following ‘a week of positive meetings’. However, he is currently ‘deliberating with his family’ to gauge whether the move would suit all involved.

Additionally, Fabrizio Romano has asserted that the club is willing to ‘pay whatever it takes’ to welcome the influential playmaker to their ranks this summer — including quadrupling his £200,000-a-week wages.

United remain firm in their stance that their captain is not for sale, although a bid in the region of £84-100 million would certainly have INEOS chiefs scratching their heads as to whether they should cash in, especially given the extent of the rebuild needed at Old Trafford this transfer window.

Replacing Fernandes would be a mammoth task for INEOS

Fernandes arrived in Manchester in 2020 from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £47m. The fact he’s won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award four times in his five-and-a-half seasons at the club is just a testament to how truly invaluable he is.

He hit the ground running from the get-go in the red shirt and his stellar form has rarely wavered – even amidst such turbulent times.

Should he have played his final United game, he’ll leave with 290 appearances to his name across all competitions, having scored 98 goals and assisted 87.
