INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has made a series of changes since becoming involved with Manchester United.
These decisions, which have changed the club heavily, have had mixed reactions with some seen as immensely popular whilst others have been criticized.
In the company’s time managing United, cuts to the academy have been made whilst the club has also made significant staffing cuts in a bid to improve financially.
The company also, recently, moved season ticket holders in order to introduce additional hospitality seating, helping to raise more funds.
Ratcliffe has been criticized for this, however, with additional security now having to accompany the Manchester United co-owner in his visits to Old Trafford on match-days.
INEOS has continued to develop as a company, as well, as it aims to become more successful. Now, the company has made its latest appointment with Sanka De Silva joining.
Announcing the news on their official website, the press release reads: “INEOS Automotive has appointed Sanka De Silva, who takes the wheel to lead its commercial operations in the UK and Irish markets as Regional Director UK&I.
“Joining the team in May 2026, Sanka will lead the brand in its home market, driving commercial growth and network development.
“De Silva brings to INEOS Automotive 15 years of experience in the automotive sector, having started his career on Nissan UK’s Graduate Scheme.
“Following various product, sales operations and marketing roles with the Japanese brand, he went on to senior management positions at Kia UK, including Marketing Director and Sales Director for the last five years.”
Commenting on his appointment, de Silva expressed excitement, stating: “It’s an exciting prospect to step away from large legacy OEMs and join a business seeking to break down barriers with its highly differentiated, distinctive product and an incredibly dedicated team.
“Growing our footprint here will anchor the efforts being achieved already with our latest model upgrades and a growing fleet order bank. While mud might be new to me, the end goal is not, and I look forward to being part of the journey.”
With INEOS’ latest appointment made, it is clear to see the steps that are being made in an attempt to improve further.
