There are a lot of question marks surrounding Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma’s future at N17. The Mali international has certainly not lived up to the expectations following his switch from Brighton in 2022. And it looks like the 28-year-old has run his race at Hotspur Way after a series of disappointing campaigns.
But it is fair to say that the Spurs midfielder has showed glimpses of his potential during certain games. The Mali international played a crucial part under Ange Postecoglou during the initial months of the Australian tactician’s tenure. However, his form fell off a cliff once the season picked up pace, and Bissouma could never make the starting spot his own after that.
One cannot say that the Spurs No.8 has not given his all for the club though. He has always been ready to take his chances while waiting in the wings. And it is fair to say that he played a crucial part during the business-end of last season as the squad suffered an injury crisis. The 28-year-old was arguably the best player on the pitch during the knockout stages of the Europa League, and helped the Lilywhites end their 17-year wait for a major trophy.
Tottenham need to sell some of their underperforming players in the coming weeks to make space for new arrivals. With the Lilywhites aiming to bounce back next season, Daniel Levy must make sure that some of the deadwood is cleared quickly to give Thomas Frank the best chance to succeed at N17.
It was reported earlier that Yves Bissouma was linked with a move away from the club as Fenerbahce looked keen to fight for his signature. The Turkish giants are looking to bolster their midfield for next season, and they have identified the Mali international as the perfect fit for the club. The aforementioned report also stated that Jose Mourinho sent an official to meet with Bissouma and lure him to come to Turkey.
However, Fenerbahce are not the only ones vying hard for the Spurs No.8’s signature. Juventus are also keen to land Yves Bissouma in the coming weeks. And as per TuttoJuve, the Serie A giants are ready to step up their interest and ‘seize the opportunity’ to bring the Mali international to Turin. The report also adds that Spurs are hoping to get €15m-€20m for Bissouma in the summer. Whereas, the Bianconeri are not ready to pay more than €10m for him.
It remains to be seen how the transfer saga involving Yves Bissouma evolves in the coming days. One can say that the 28-year-old is out of Thomas Frank’s plans at N17. So, Daniel Levy must act quick and release the Mali international as he just has a year left in his contract. The Lilywhites might need to sell him on a free transfer next year if they fail to cash-in on him in the coming weeks.
