Manchester United’s season has seen several positive moments both on and off the pitch.
Among the figures who continue to hold a special place in the hearts of United fans is legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scot remains a regular presence around Old Trafford and Carrington whenever possible, even more than a decade after bringing his historic managerial career to an end.
Now, Ferguson has been seen publicly for the first time since a health scare that caused concern among supporters last month.
The 84-year-old was taken to hospital after feeling unwell ahead of Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford in May.
As a result, Sir Alex Ferguson also missed a scheduled appearance at the prestigious LMA Awards three weeks later, leading to further concern regarding his condition.
Thankfully, the former United manager appears to be recovering well.
Ferguson was recently spotted at a restaurant in Wilmslow, Manchester, where he posed for a photograph with a supporter and appeared to be in excellent spirits.
The fan later shared the image on social media alongside a heartfelt message.
“Not every photo tells a story – some capture a feeling. I wasn’t shaking because I met a football legend.
“I was shaking because I was standing beside a man who helped shape the journey of my idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I’m not the biggest Manchester United fan, but my admiration for Sir Alex Ferguson and the special relationship he built with Ronaldo has always inspired me. A moment I’ll never forget. Thank you, Sir Alex.”
The sighting comes shortly after reports emerged that Ferguson had personally contacted Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi following the French side’s recent European success.
According to reports, Ferguson’s message read:
“Nasser, this is Alex Ferguson. Well done, it was a tough night for you, but you played against a boring team that just defended. Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it.”
The comment was viewed by many supporters as a playful dig towards Arsenal following their latest Champions League disappointment.
Ferguson’s influence on Manchester United remains unmatched after spending 26 years in charge between 1986 and 2013.
During that period he transformed the club into a global powerhouse, winning an incredible 38 trophies and overseeing some of the greatest teams in football history.
While his health scare understandably worried supporters, his recent public appearance suggests the legendary Scot is back to enjoying life and continuing to follow the game he helped shape.
