Manchester United chiefs are now floundering to sanction the signing of a proven goalscorer before the 2025/2026 campaign gets underway in a month’s time.
To say it’s been an uneventful transfer window at Old Trafford thus far is an understatement; the club announced Matheus Cunha’s arrival at the beginning of June and have yet to make any further acquisitions or sales.
United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has fallen also stagnant following their second bid – worth £55 million plus £7m in add-ons – being rejected.
As it stands, Ruben Amorim has a mammoth task on his hands to get a side who finished 15th-placed in the league and slumped to a 1-0 defeat in the Europa League final back competing among the top end of the table next term.
The Red Devils are actively being linked with a host of targets, with some posing as more likely than others.
Today, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that United are among a handful of Nicolas Jackson ’s admirers, as he faces a battle to reclaim his starting spot in Enzo Maresca’s first-choice XI.
Number of clubs keeping eye on Nicolas Jackson’s situation at Chelsea. Told Manchester United among them. Focus currently on Bryan Mbeumo & sales. Villa boss Unai Emery long-term admirer. Gave him debut at Villarreal. AC Milan keen but gap in valuation. #CFC #MUFC #AVFC #ACMilan

The arrivals of fresh faces Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have thrown Jackson’s role into uncertainty, especially given the former notched two goals on his debut in the Club World Cup and added a third to his account in Chelsea’s emphatic triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in the final on Sunday night.
Jackson started just once throughout the Blues’ CWC campaign over in the United States and made a further two appearances off the bench in their seven-game route to lifting the trophy – albeit he was suspended for two matches for receiving a red card.
The 24-year-old has recorded a total of 30 goals and 12 assists across all competiions in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, with 24 goals and 10 assists coming in the Premier League alone.
