Tottenham aiming to land £60m ‘brilliant’ Crystal Palace star; Big Ange is keen to sign him

Tottenham ready to swoop in for the highly rated Crystal palace star Adam Wharton

The Europa League success should not paper over the cracks prevailing at Tottenham. The Lilywhites struggled to get going this season and found life tough in the Premier League. They finished the campaign just a place above the relegation zone, registering 22 losses along the way. It is fair to say that Ange Postecoglou exceeded all expectations by ending the club’s long-standing trophy drought this season.

Now, Spurs should look to build on the Europa League success and bring in quality players for next season. The North London club now has the perfect chance to close the gap on their rivals. For that, the Lilywhites must first sell underperforming players in the summer and generate funds for new arrivals.

Due to the dismal Premier League campaign, Daniel Levy is forced to adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy in the summer to bring in new signings. A major squad overhaul is expected at N17 and many key players are linked with an exit in the coming weeks. This can only be good news for the Lilywhites as potential exits could generate the much-needed funds for quality replacements.

Tottenham want to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton

There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements in the summer. With Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur facing an uncertain future at the club, Daniel Levy is aiming to sign a quality replacement that could raise the ceiling of the squad next season.

As per TEAMtalk, Spurs are interested in signing Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. Ange Postecoglou has been a long-term admirer of the talented midfielder and Tottenham would make a move for the Palace star if the Australian stays at the helm for next season. Daniel Levy believes that Wharton would be an ideal signing for the high-pressing game that the Lilywhites play under Big Ange.

However, the aforementioned report also suggests that Oliver Glasner does not want to let the 21-year-old leave as he is an integral part of the Austrian tactician’s setup. The Eagles have also valued the England international at approximately £60m. So pricing away the talented midfielder from Selhurst Park would be a tough task for Spurs in the summer.

Adam Wharton is an ideal fit for Tottenham. Signing the 21-year-old would mean that Rodrigo Bentancur would lose out his place in the starting eleven instantly. A midfield trio of Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison, and Adam Wharton would elevate the quality of the Spurs squad for years to come and instantly make them a strong team.

The Crystal Palace star is an elite ball-carrier and tends to drop deep to receive the pass. He also thrives in a high-pressing team and has great positional awareness while anchoring the midfield. Wharton also has a good passing range and tends to invite pressure before releasing the ball to his teammates that have free space. His game-style is perfectly suited for Big Ange’s system and signing the 21-year-old would be a step in the right direction.

Yang singled out for call-up to South Korea national team

Following a recent spell of good form, Yang Hyun-jun is being singled out for a call-up to the South Korea national team this month… It comes after a renaissance in domestic football with Celtic, as well as showcasing his abilities to a wider audience in the Champions League knockouts against Bayern Munich too. Yang showing great development under Brendan Rodgers The South Korean has been somewhat of a peripheral figure at Celtic Park since he arrived in the summer transfer window of 2023 from Gangwon FC in his homeland. The athletic and nimble winger has struggled at times in the past to get to grips with life in Scotland and playing for a big club in Celtic. However, his recent performances have all suggested that the attacker just needed a settling in period and has the potential for development under Brendan Rodgers. Several of Yang’s teammates who joined in that aforementioned transfer window have been moved on, with Rodgers not really happy with that particular influx as a whole. Yang was kept around though, as the Irishman clearly seen something in the youngster to suggest he could become a helpful tool for this Hoops side in the time since. Yang can handle the pressure of playing for Celtic His recent performances have certainly proven he has talent, it’s about whether he can do it on a consistent basis and handle that pressure. This recent upturn in fortunes has saw a clamour from back home in the media to give Yang an international call-up, with World Cup qualifiers looming large for the Korean Republic. Korea JoongAng Daily are now insisting that Yang should be called up to the national team for this next round of crucial matches, in the hope of qualifying for the World Cup in 2026. The report reads as follows: “Yang can execute a classic winger role for the national team on both flanks, although sealing a spot in the best XI entails competition against fellow Europe-based midfielders such as Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur and Hwang Hee-chan of Wolverhampton Wanderers. “But Hong also has the option to call up Bae Jun-ho of Stoke City in lieu of Hwang, as the Stoke midfielder picked up two assists in the October break and one goal in November last year. “And there is another national team regular, Lee Kang-in of Paris Saint-Germain, who has the versatility to play as an attacking midfielder or winger in Hong’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. “A plethora of already-proven winger picks for Korea thus gives Hong a choice of utilizing Yang as a substitute, which would still mean further growing presence for the Celtic winger.” Sign up and receive a free copy of Henrik Larsson new book…

Packers Receive Disappointing Injury News Before Vikings Matchup

Jayden Reed’s anticipated return to the practice field for the Green Bay Packers will have to wait a little longer. Despite some growing hope earlier this week that the dynamic wide receiver could begin the next phase of his recovery, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Wednesday that Reed will not open his 21-day practice window yet. “He’s not practicing today,” LaFleur said ahead of Sunday’s critical matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. When pressed for a clearer timeline on the second-year standout, who remains on injured reserve with collarbone and foot injuries, LaFleur deferred to the medical staff. “I don’t know. As soon as medical clears him, he’ll be out there,” LaFleur said. “I know he’s excited to get back. As am I.” The optimism had spiked in recent days. On Monday, LaFleur indicated there was a chance Reed and/or rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd could start their practice windows this week. Reed himself fueled the excitement Tuesday by sharing a photo of himself dressed in full uniform on social media. Those plans, however, are now on hold. Reed’s surgically repaired foot seems to have healed satisfactorily, but the collarbone—fractured on a diving attempt during the first half of Green Bay’s Week 2 victory over the Washington Commanders—still needs additional time. For a wide receiver whose job involves regular physical contact and the risk of landing hard on the shoulder, the medical staff is requiring clear imaging evidence that the bone is strong enough before green-lighting a return. The cautious approach echoes the Packers’ handling of Aaron Rodgers’ similar collarbone injury in 2017, when the former quarterback sat out seven games while waiting for full healing. Nearly 10 weeks removed from the injury and having already missed eight contests, Reed could still require another one to two weeks before doctors are comfortable clearing him for football activities. That timeline keeps a potential return for the Thanksgiving night clash with the Detroit Lions or the following week against the Chicago Bears realistically in play. Before the injury, Reed had established himself as Green Bay’s top receiving weapon. He paced the team in receiving yards in both 2023 and 2024, and in the two games he played this season while managing the foot issue, he recorded three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. The Green Bay Packers will continue their Week 12 preparations without their leading wideout on the practice field, with LaFleur and the organization prioritizing full recovery over a rushed comeback.

Cowboys Announce Trevon Diggs News After Four Missed Games

Trevon Diggs watched on as Brian Schottenheimer and the Dallas Cowboys ended a two-game skid, defeating Geno Smith and the Las Vegas Raiders 33-16 in Week 11's edition of "Monday Night Football." Now, the Cowboys improve to 4-5-1 on the 2025 NFL season with a Week 12 NFC East matchup on the horizon against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ten games into the regular season, the Cowboys have fielded one of the NFL’s worst defenses, allowing 378.7 total yards per game, 30th in the league, and a league-worst 258.7 passing yards. With the unit struggling, Jerry Jones decided it was time for upgrades, acquiring defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson at the trade deadline. The team also welcomed back linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who had been recovering from a knee injury. With the reinforcements arriving for the Raiders matchup, the defense delivered its best performance of the season, allowing just 236 total yards, including only 27 on the ground. Despite the impressive outing, Dallas was still without one of its top defenders, as Diggs remained sidelined. Ahead of the Cowboys’ Week 7 win over the Washington Commanders, Diggs was ruled out after suffering a concussion in an accident at home. The following week, he was placed on injured reserve while also dealing with a separate knee injury. He has missed Dallas’ last four games, during which the team went 2-2. Diggs won't be able to make his return until the Thanksgiving matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, meaning he will be out against the Eagles. But on Wednesday, Schottenheimer had a positive update to share on his Pro Bowl cornerback. "Brian Schottenheimer says that Solomon Thomas is 'making progress' and with Trevon Diggs, 'all signs are that he's doing everything he's supposed to do,'" Cowboys reporter Tommy Yarrish wrote on X. "#Cowboys are doing walkthroughs today, so they'll know more on the injury front tomorrow." The Cowboys will take on the Eagles on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET at AT T Stadium.

One coach makes sense for LSU if Lane Kiffin doesn't flip to Tigers

The LSU Tigers are serious about their pursuit of current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. It makes sense, too. Sure, Kiffin has had some ups and downs (to put it lightly) as a college football coach, but he's been great at Ole Miss since 2020, and he currently has the Rebels at 10-1 and in the running to make a huge run through the College Football Playoff. He's comfortable with SEC football, and he's known as a great recruiter. Those are all things that would make Kiffin a big-time hire for the Tigers as they look to replace Brian Kelly, but they're not the only program in the running. Ole Miss would, obviously, like Kiffin to stay, and the Florida Gators are turning on the full-court press for him as well. LSU would be smart to have options 1A and 1B if Kiffin doesn't end up coming to Baton Rouge, and according to Scott Rabalais of NOLA.com, the Tigers do have two names in mind. "If not Kiffin — and obviously he could go any number of ways — then who for LSU? Two of the names to consider right now appear to be Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz and Tulane coach Jon Sumrall," Rabalais reported earlier in the week. Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall could be a perfect fit for LSU Tigers Eli Drinkwitz of Missouri would be a great option. He's gone 44-27 in six seasons with the Tigers from Columbia, Missouri. The issue with him is somewhat similar to what plagued Kelly at LSU, though, and it's something that led to Penn State firing James Franklin — now the head coach at Virginia Tech. Drinkwitz has kept Mizzou very competitive in the SEC, but he has struggled in big spots. He is 7-14 against ranked teams. LSU could get that kind of production, or lack thereof, from Kelly, which then makes Jon Sumrall from Tulane the next option to look at. Frankly, he may be the best one of the bunch for LSU, and even better of a fit than Kiffin. One of the big problems with Kelly at LSU is that he never fit into the Louisiana culture. A Massachusetts native, he was always seen as an outsider and never tried to change that. Sumrall wasn't born in Louisiana, but he does hail from Texarkana, Texas, which is roughly five hours north of Baton Rouge. He was a linebacker at Kentucky from 2002 to 2004, so he understands SEC football, but most importantly for LSU, he understands life in Louisiana as the head coach at Tulane. He's now in his second season with the Green Wave, but he was also the co-defensive coordinator at Tulane from 2012 to 2014, so he has a lot of experience working and recruiting within the state. Throw in the fact that he's only 43 years old (thus, he really has no baggage as a head coach), and he has No. 24 Tulane in the hunt in the American Athletic Conference as well as in the hunt for a spot in the CFP, and there are few scenarios in which Sumrall wouldn't be a home run hire for LSU. Again, he may even be a better option than Kiffin, though it does sound like LSU wants to bark up that tree first before looking elsewhere.
