Tottenham announce Omar Marmoush signing, jersey number revealed

Omar Marmoush is the latest high-profile Tottenham signing.

Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. The 27-year-old has joined Spurs on a season-long loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent next summer.

Omar Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, but struggled for regular game time during his time at the Etihad Stadium. The Egyptian star played as second fiddle to Erling Haaland last season, managing three goals and as many assists in 21 Premier League appearances. Overall, he scored 16 goals in 62 games for the Sky Blues in all competitions.

The versatile forward joins former Man City teammate Savio at Spurs, after the Brazilian winger moved to north London for an initial fee of £75m on Tuesday. Marmoush has become Tottenham’s eighth signing in a heavy-spending transfer window.

“It feels amazing to be here. I’m so excited to get started with the team, and I can’t wait to meet the fans,” Marmoush told the club’s official website.

“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me.

“I’ve spoken with the Head Coach, I loved what he had to say, and I’m sure our passion for the game will go very well together.”

The club have confirmed that Marmoush will wear the number 22 shirt. Number 22 was most recently worn by Brennan Johnson at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while it has also been donned by the likes of Robbie Keane, Vedran Corluka, Moussa Sissoko and Nacer Chadli in the Premier League era.

The addition of Marmoush provides Roberto De Zerbi with key tactical flexibility across the frontline. The Egyptian’s arrival comes at a time when our gaffer demanded the players greater goalscoring efficiently, intelligent link-up play, smart decision-making and direct end product. He will bring much-needed quality and competition up top, whilst keeping Dominic Solanke and Richarlison on their toes.

It remains to be seen if the African goalscorer will be involved against Newcastle United on Saturday. If he does, the fans will hope Marmoush continues to be the scourge of Newcastle, having scored a total of seven goals against the Magpies during his time with Man City.
