Tottenham Hotspur have announced a new £100m capital injection from majority owners ENIC, aimed at further strengthening the club’s financial position, sporting project and sustainability.
The fresh investment, made with “long-term sporting success” in mind, reiterates the Lewis family’s long-term commitment to Spurs and provides further proof that the club is not for sale amid recent takeover rumours. Fans will hope the new capital influx is put on strengthening Thomas Frank’s squad after a strong start to the new season, as well as deliver long-term sporting success.
The north Londoners spent heavily over the summer transfer window to back new boss Thomas Frank. Mohammed Kudus has been the standout performer for Spurs so far this season, while Joao Palhinha- on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich- has provided steel and physicality to the midfield unit.
Tottenham look defensively resolute this season, keeping five clean sheets in all competitions already. This has been a massive transformation from last term, where Spurs were leaking goals at an alarming rate and barely keeping the opposition at arm’s length. That said, the lack of goals from forwards still remain an issue for them.
Former Premier League boss Sam Allardyce has highlighted the Lilywhites’ inability to score goals regularly. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Hotspur Way chiefs are scouring the market for attackers- especially wideman.
Jens Petter Hauge recently caught the eye of Tottenham during their 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League. The 25-year-old scored a brace, but Thomas Frank’s side showed character to come from 2-0 down to salvage a point at the Arctic Circle. The Tottenham boss was full of praise for the winger after the game and dropped a cheeky message in the end – “You never know what the future holds.”
Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King feels that Tottenham will explore a big-money January move for Bodo/Glimt star Jens Petter Hauge, which would break the record for the biggest transfer fee ever received in Norway.
“Frank will go for him (Hauge),” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“I think he showed with the two goals that he scored that he is absolute quality.
“I think the money that Bodo/Glimt would be looking for would be anywhere between £20m and £30m, which would be massive money for a Norwegian club. That would break the record for the biggest transfer fee ever received in Norway.”
Hauge was sensational against Spurs and scored two good goals in the Champions League tie. The Norwegian international has been in great form this season, bagging 16 goal contributions across all competitions already.
After the latest cash injection from the Lewis Family, investing a new left-winger in the winter window cannot be ruled out. And having shown an appreciation for Hauge’s talent already, Frank must push the Tottenham board to get a deal for the Scandinavian talent across the line in the New Year.
