Tottenham feel they do have enough options in wide areas and have subsequently cooled their interest in Man United outcast Alejandro Garnacho
After what was a remarkably slow start to the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur have accelerated their plans over the last week, with a deal for defender Kota Takai and attacker Mohammed Kudus completed.
Their process to sign Morgan Gibbs-White have hit the buffers following Nottingham Forest’s complaint to the Premier League over illegal approach to the player. This has put the deal in doubt, although transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Spurs remain confident of getting a deal for Gibbs-White over the line.
The Lilywhites remain the market for further attacking reinforcements, owing to the uncertain futures of experienced forwards Son Heung-min and Richarlison. Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has been on Tottenham’s radar in the last couple of months.
Alejandro Garnacho is one of the four attackers Manchester United are planning to offload this summer. The Argentina international is likely to exit Old Trafford after being deemed surplus to Ruben Amorim’s requirements. The winger has recently rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr as he wants to stay in the Premier League.
As Tottenham have added Kudus from West Ham and remain confident of wrapping up a deal for Gibbs-White despite Nottingham Forest’s legal threat, an exclusive report from TBR Football claims the club have cooled their interest in Garnacho as a result. The Lilywhites signing Mathys Tel permanently from Bayern Munich have also played a part in them putting a deal for the Man United outcast on the backburner.
Garnacho was one of Man United’s better performers in an otherwise disastrous campaign. They huffed and puffed to finish 15th in the Premier League, whilst losing the Europa League final to Spurs in Bilbao. The 21-year-old did his job well, registering 21 goal contributions in 58 appearances.
The aforementioned report adds Chelsea still remain keen on the South American trickster despite pulling off moves for Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro. Also, the arrival of Brazilian winger Estevao has not cooled the Blues’ interest in Garnacho, whose time at Old Trafford has seemingly come to an end.
Tottenham apparently not pursuing Garnacho anymore suggests Thomas Frank is content with the wide options he currently has at his disposal.
Tel has joined the club permanently after his five-month loan spell from Bayern, and he must be raring to impress next season. So does Wilson Odobert, who endured an injury-ravaged debut season in North London. Brennan Johnson was Tottenham’s top scorer last season, but Kudus’ acquisition means the Welshman has to up his game to keep his place on the right flank.
There is academy starlet Mikey Moore also waiting on the wings for his opportunities after his breakout campaign last year. Considering all these factors, Spurs may have taken a wise decision to cool their interest in Garnacho.
