Chelsea’s dreadful efforts in the last few months have enraged correspondents as well as fans, as an article today proves.

We’ve been excoriating Chelsea players all season, and perhaps you’re sick of it. Maybe you think that the fact we’re Chelsea fans means we feel things too personally, and go over the top.

Well, we’d like to point out we’re not the only ones. Various Chelsea correspondents from around the league (who aren’t Blues fans) have similar feelings about this group of players.

Just look at some of Kieran Gill’s comments in the Daily Mail yesterday about a tame defeat to end the season against Sunderland.

Chelsea face mass exodus of players – and fans won’t be unhappy about that

“Chelsea carried a sense of entitlement, and that is not how football works,” he wrote.

He accused the players of an “utterly unserious attitude,” having taken part in another “defensive disaster-class.”

He now predicts a “mass exodus” from the club, not just because some of these guys aren’t good enough, but also because the Blues have no European football to manage next season. There simply won’t be enough football on offer for a squad this big.

Enzo Fernandez looks likely to leave Chelsea this summer – his replacement should be a different profile to free up Cole Palmer positionally.

Nicolas Jackson is coming back from his loan this summer – although nobody is sure whether he’ll be sticking around. Xabi Alonso needs to decide.
