Watch: Lisandro Martinez stops a certain Fulham goal with crucial clearance to spare United’s blushes

Lisandro Martinez’s long-term absences for Manchester United last season left a void that just couldn’t be filled by the other centre-halves.

As such, the Old Trafford faithful were over the moon when it was confirmed that he’d finally returned to full fitness – and they’ll be hoping it stays that way for the entire campaign.

While still reeling off the Reds’ FA Cup triumph in May, Martinez went on to be crowned a Copa America champion with Argentina last month. He played a vital role throughout the tournament alongside Cristian Romero, and he’s seemingly picked up where he left off with his world-class form.

The defender stopped a certain Fulham goal in the second half tonight; Marco Silva’s side embarked on a hugely threatening counter-attack, which culminated with former Red Andreas Pereira dispatching a low, driven cross into the area in hopes of meeting Adama Traore.
