It was a testament to Andriy Lunin that Real Madrid did not particularly miss Thibaut Courtois during his nine-month lay-off following back-to-back serious knee injuries. However, when he did return, the Belgian stopper showed that he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Remarkably, Courtois did not concede a single goal during his five appearances at the back-end of last season, which included the Champions League final. Real Madrid will hope that he continues to keep many, many clean sheets during the upcoming campaign, which he will go into in good form.
That was shown during training on Tuesday, when Courtois made an outrageous fingertip save to deny one of his Real Madrid teammates.

Courtois is undoubtedly the number one ‘keeper for Real Madrid going into the new season, and this has led to concerns about Lunin’s future. Even if the 25-year-old departs, which looks likely, Los Blancos are more than covered in goals – as long as Courtois doesn’t get injured again, that is.
