Manchester City will be looking to strengthen their attack this summer, with Kevin De Bruyne set to join Napoli and Erling Haaland no longer the relentless goal machine he once was.
So, who exactly is Mahamadou Sangaré?
The 18-year-old has impressed in PSG’s youth ranks, particularly in the UEFA Youth League, bagging eight goals in just six appearances.
Although he didn’t make a senior appearance for PSG, Sangaré arrives with a solid foundation and the chance to carve out a role, either within City’s system or on loan through the wider City Football Group.
With City’s track record of developing young talent such as Phil Foden and Rico Lewis, Sangaré now has the opportunity to grow in one of Europe’s most structured footballing environments.
The PSG youth forward’s numbers suggest he’s a major prospect, and could even have a real chance of breaking into Manchester City’s first-team set-up.
This is the kind of move that fits perfectly with Manchester City’s long-term model. Sangaré may not be a household name, but his goal numbers in the UEFA Youth League speak volumes about his potential.
City have shown that they’re willing to invest in raw but technically gifted players early, developing them through their system or loaning them. Sangaré fits this as a centre-forward with a growing physical presence.
With Pep Guardiola likely to refresh his attacking options this summer, Sangaré won’t be expected to step in right away, but his arrival could represent the next stage of City’s plan to secure the future of their front line.
If his development continues, Sangaré could be one of the smartest academy picks of the summer.
