Why is Arsenal not looking to sign Rafa Leao?

Rafa Leao has been in fine form for AC Milan for several years, but he wants to leave the club, presenting Arsenal with an opportunity to sign a top attacker. The Gunners have held a long-standing interest in his signature and consider him one of the top players around, believing he could make their team stronger than it is now.

The Portugal star has always been keen to play in the Premier League, and earlier in the summer, Football Italia revealed that Arsenal was one of the clubs he expected to make a move for him. His desire to play in England has therefore kept the possibility of a transfer alive, particularly with Arsenal looking for attacking options.

Arsenal Face Competition for Leao

Many Arsenal supporters would consider Leao one of the most important players their team could sign this summer, particularly as they look for a potential replacement for Gabriel Martinelli. However, the latest claims suggest Arsenal may not currently be among the clubs pursuing the attacker.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal are not one of the Premier League clubs interested in signing Leao, despite their previous interest and the player’s reported expectations. That leaves uncertainty over who Arsenal would target if Martinelli leaves, especially as they are struggling to sign Julian Alvarez.

Leao Could Still Move to England

Leao could nevertheless move to England without joining Arsenal, with Aston Villa and Everton among the clubs that have been interested in a move for him. His availability could therefore attract further attention before the transfer window closes, particularly given his quality and experience.

Leao is 27 and would be offering his best years to whichever club secures his signature. Arsenal would clearly benefit from adding him to their squad, especially if Martinelli departs, but the current situation makes their involvement difficult to assess.

The Gunners have long admired Leao, and his qualities would make him an attractive option for their attack. However, with the report not including Arsenal among the interested Premier League clubs, it remains uncertain whether they will make a serious move before the window closes. If they do, Leao could become an important addition to their squad.
