Tuesday’s reports claim that Xabi Alonso has expressed his desire to bring Argentine talent Nico Paz back to Real Madrid from Como by exercising the buy-back option included in the 20-year-old’s contract.
Nico Paz joined Como in a deal worth a reported €6m in the summer of 2024, although Madrid retain a 50% sell-on clause, and also have options to buy the highly-rated youngster back for a fee of €8m this summer and for €9m in the summer of 2026.
After an impressive breakthrough season under Cesc Fabregas, including six goals and nine league assists for the newly-promoted side, Nico Paz has attracted plenty of interest, namely from Champions League finalists Inter and his former club Real Madrid.
According to Tuesday’s reports from Calciomercato.com, Alonso has expressed an interest in bringing Nico Paz back to Madrid as swiftly as possible.
Alonso reportedly wants to speak to the player and his entourage with a view of exercising the €8m buy-back clause in his contract in time for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 15.
Further details indicate that a meeting between Nico Paz and the representatives from Real Madrid could take place this week.
