Amanda Anisimova is having a moment. No, scratch that. She is having a season. The American tennis sensation capped off a dominant two weeks in Beijing by taking home the China Open title, overpowering a very game Linda Noskova in a rollercoaster three-set final: 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.

If you only caught the first set, you probably thought you were watching a public execution. Anisimova came out firing on all cylinders, dishing out a bagel in under 30 minutes. It was the kind of performance that makes you check if your opponent even remembered to bring their racket. But Noskova, to her absolute credit, wasn’t about to get embarrassed on the big stage.

The 20-year-old Czech phenom, who had already pulled off a miracle comeback in the semis, dug in her heels and flipped the script. She broke Anisimova, started finding her rhythm, and suddenly it was Anisimova looking flustered, muttering to herself as the second set slipped away. The crowd, which had been ready for a quick coronation, suddenly had a real dogfight on their hands.

Anisimova’s Rollercoaster Ride To Victory

Just when it looked like the momentum had completely shifted, Anisimova reminded everyone why she’s now ranked No. 4 in the world. She hit the reset button. The unforced errors disappeared, and the blistering, line-painting groundstrokes returned. In the deciding set, Anisimova simply wore Noskova down, sealing the championship with a beautiful backhand winner. She dropped to her back, a mixture of exhaustion and pure joy washing over her. It took one hour and 46 minutes of gutsy, emotional tennis, but she had done it.

“What a two weeks it’s been,” a relieved Anisimova said after the match. “It’s crazy we made it this far, and to get the win today has made it really special.”

More Than Just a Win

This wasn’t just another trophy for the cabinet. By winning her second WTA 1000 title of the year, Anisimova leapfrogged fellow American Coco Gauff in the Race to the WTA Finals. It is a sweet bit of revenge after dispatching the defending champ Gauff in the semifinals just a day earlier.

Even her opponent had to give her props, with a hint of humor. “You’ve been playing amazing throughout this whole year,” Noskova said. “You’ve been more than annoying to all of us.” Annoying for her opponents, maybe. But for American tennis fans? Anisimova’s incredible 2025 season is anything but. It is a sign of a true star coming into her own, and it’s been an absolute blast to watch.
