Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz is the third-ranked player in the world. The 20-year-old has risen to the ranks quickly as he has already clinched two Grand Slam titles and a few Masters titles. While Alcaraz earns heaps of praise for his achievements, it also puts a burden on him to do well every time.

The Spaniard is said to have the traits of all three players from the Big 3. Alcaraz’s athleticism, his resilience, and his skills on the tennis court earn him loads of praise but it also puts added pressure on the youngster. This leads to unnecessary criticism when he does not do well.

For instance, Alcaraz won his first title of the season at the Indian Wells Open. It was his first title since the Wimbledon championships last year. The gap between the two titles kept putting pressure on Alcaraz. He was losing shape on the court and that ‘spectacularism’ was missing as many claimed.

For the same reason, Andy Roddick has come up with a suggestion for Alcaraz where he has asked the Spaniard to let go of that perfection at times. The former American ace has suggested that Alcaraz becomes boring on the court like Novak Djokovic does sometimes.

Andy Roddick claims Andre Agassi also feels that Carlos Alcaraz should play boring matches

The American tennis icon claimed that Carlos Alcaraz, with his performance on the court has given fans the impression of perfection. As the Spaniard is often referred to as a blend of the Big 3, people expect everything coming out of him to be perfect and Andy Roddick believes it creates a problem.

He has claimed that Alcaraz has not found the best version of himself yet. Roddick believes that if the 20-year-old brings that ‘boring’ factor into his game like Novak Djokovic, things might fall in place for Alcaraz.

And now Alcaraz is almost like a combination of all three. He’s still finding his way. I think the best version of himself will be when he gets a little more Novak into his game, where he makes things a little more boring and isn’t spectacular all the time. Andy Roddick said on his podcast Served with Andy Roddick.

The American also claimed that Andre Agassi also feels the same way. Roddick revealed a conversation he had with Agassin in Vegas where the former World No. 1 talked about being boring the next point of success for Alcaraz.

When I was with Andre Agassi in Vegas, that’s kind of what he was saying is that he is so spectacular that the next point of success is becoming maybe a little bit more boring on court and kind of getting people and locking them down and not throwing as many uppercuts. Andy Roddick stated.

Notably, right after the Indian Wells victory, Alcaraz suffered a heartbreaking loss at the Miami Open. The Spaniard lost in straight sets to Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinal and his aim to clinch the Sunshine Double was left unfulfilled.
