Aryna Sabalenka has extended her unbeaten run at the Wuhan Open, joining an exclusive group of players in the process.
The world No. 1 has now won 19 straight matches at the tournament, a streak that began in 2019 and includes three consecutive titles.
Next up for Sabalenka is Jessica Pegula, as she looks to strengthen her hold on the top spot in the WTA rankings following Iga Swiatek’s surprise loss to Jasmine Paolini.
Sabalenka’s path to No. 1 has also put her among a select few, as she becomes just the eighth player to reach this particular milestone.
Sabalenka has reached a significant milestone during her time in Wuhan, becoming just the eighth woman in history to achieve it.
The World No. 1 has now passed the 10,000 WTA points mark for the 2025 season, joining an elite group of players who have hit that total.
She joins Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki and Ash Barty on that short list.
Sabalenka has already surpassed the point totals set by both Wozniacki and Barty. She’s also not far behind Safina, Sharapova and Azarenka with plenty of events still to come this year.
Williams leads the way with a record 13,615 points earned during a remarkable 2013 campaign that included US Open and Roland Garros titles along with the WTA Finals crown.
Sabalenka’s strong play in Wuhan has seen her hit a landmark reached by just seven other women before her.
The world No. 1 has now gone past the 10,000-point mark for the 2025 season, joining an elite group in the process.
That group includes Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki and Ash Barty.
Sabalenka has already surpassed Wozniacki and Barty and is closing in on Safina, Sharapova and Azarenka with several tournaments still to come.
Williams holds the record with 13,615 points from her incredible 2013 season when she won both the US Open and Roland Garros along with the WTA Finals.
Sabalenka and Swiatek have spent much of the year battling at the top of the rankings while also facing off late into Grand Slam tournaments.
Swiatek claimed Wimbledon while Sabalenka took home the US Open title but has kept her hold on No. 1 throughout.
US tennis great Tracy Austin believes Sabalenka’s overall year has been stronger than Swiatek’s as the season winds down.
Austin said on The Tennis Channel: “Without a doubt it’s Sabalenka. Sabalenka has won four titles so she’s won more than Swiatek.”

Austin continued: “Swiatek has won three [titles] it’s kind of come at the end of this year, kind of towards the middle and towards now towards this end here also four other finals [Sabalenka] gone deeper in majors.”
