Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest player to hit the $50 million mark in career prize money after bagging his second US Open title on Sunday.

The Spaniard overcame his chief rival and defending champion Jannik Sinner in four sets to win his sixth Grand Slam. Alcaraz reclaimed the World No. 1 ranking from Sinner and will now be a firm favorite to end the season in that spot.

Alcaraz Amasses $50 million in Career Prize Money

This year’s US Open committed an eye-watering $90 million prize money pool, with the singles champion banking a colossal $5 million in earnings. It is the highest ever total in a Grand Slam tournament. That was sufficient to boost Alcaraz’s career prize money tally past the $50 million, and he is now the sixth man to achieve this (his exact total is $53,486,628) and the first player born in the 2000s to reach this milestone.

Alcaraz joins Novak Djokovic, who is well ahead at the top, retired stars Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray, and World No. 3 Alexander Zverev to have earned at least $50 million in career prize money. Tennis prize money is the amount players receive for competing and winning tournaments, and does not include off-court earnings from brand endorsements and appearance fees.

The list will likely have a seventh man before the end of the season as Sinner, who lost the championship match in New York, is less than two million away from breaking that barrier.

Alcaraz is Season’s Top Prize Money Earner

Alcaraz is also the highest prize money earner in 2025 after amassing seven titles. He competed in three Grand Slam finals, and his current pay is $15,631,652. He can still top that amount with the ATP’s year-end bonus, which could be in millions, subject to participation in mandatory Masters tournaments.

The record to beat remains Djokovic’s incredible 2015 season. The Serbian earned $21,146,145 after winning 11 titles and compiled an 82-6 record. Alcaraz is very capable of surpassing Djokovic’s number with two more Masters 1000 tournaments to play in the next two months and the ATP Finals in Turin.
