Harmony Tan angers partner by dropping out of doubles match after win over Serena Williams

Harmony Tan was a relatively unknown name among casual sports fans who mostly only follow Grand-Slam tennis tournaments until she defeated living legend Serena Williams 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (10-7) in Tuesday's first-round Wimbledon match.

Tan was in the news on Wednesday for a much different reason.

Per D'Arcy Maine of ESPN, Tan pulled out of her Wimbledon doubles match an hour before it was scheduled to get underway on Wednesday because of a thigh injury. Tamara Korpatsch, Tan's would-be partner, was understandably less than pleased with how things played out.

"She just texted me this morning," Korpatsch wrote in a post shared on social media. "Let me wait here [one] hour before the match start. I'm very sad, disappointed and also very angry that I can't play my 1st Doubles Grand Slam. And It's really not fair for me."

Tan's victory over Williams took over three hours to complete and apparently left the 24-year-old beat up as of Wednesday morning Wimbledon time.

"I didn't deserve that," Korpatsch added in her caption. "She asked me before the tournament if we wanna play doubles and I said yes, I didn't ask her, she asked me! If you're broken after a 3 [hour] match the day before, you can't play professional. That's my opinion."

Korpatsch fell to Heather Watson in her first-round women's singles contest on Tuesday, while Tan is now scheduled to face Sara Sorribes Tormo on Thursday. Per Maine, Tan hadn't commented on the potential controversy as of Wednesday morning E.T.
