Already deemed the favorite to lift the title prior to the start of the 2025 Korea Open, Iga Swiatek left little doubt as she swept her way to claim her first WTA title since her victory at this year's Cincinnati Open.
The Polish star has been in great form since winning her maiden Wimbledon title earlier this summer. Swiatek recorded an astounding 6-0 6-0 route over American Amanda Anisimova in the SW19 final to win her sixth overall Grand Slam title.
Swiatek would carry the momentum into the North American hardcourt season. After a surprise round of 16 loss to Danish player Clara Tauson at the Canada Open, Swiatek would return with a renewed vigor at the next WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.
The former World No.1 bulldozed her way to the final without dropping a set. She would face Italian Jasmine Paolini in the final, where she secured a 7-5 6-4 win over the seventh seed to win her second title in as many months.
The 24-year old kicked off her Asian swing as the top seed at the Korea Open. Coming in off a quarterfinal loss to Anisimova at the US Open, Swiatek would showcase her ruthless brand of tennis as she powered past the competition while dropping a combined 10 games en route to the final.
Swiatek would face Ekaterina Alexandrova, who was picking up momentum following some impressive play in Seoul. The Russian would challenge Swiatek, taking the first set 6-1 to the shock of the crowd. However, Swiatek would rebound and finish with a 1-6 7-6(3) 7-5 victory to clinch her 25th career WTA title.
By virtue of her victory on Sunday, Swiatek would record her 57th tour-level match win of the year. This puts her one win ahead of World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who sits with 56 wins following her run to the US Open title. This match-win record accounts only for WTA singles matches, and does not include any Billie Jean King Cup activity.
American tennis star Jessica Pegula is tied for third place on the list with former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, with both ladies accumulating 42 match wins thus far in the season. Korea Open runner-up Alexandrova rounds out the top five with 41 match wins at this point in the 2025 WTA season.
