Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has currently been struggling with his form in major tournaments, gave a concerning insight into his relationship with his father.

In an interview in Monaco, as reported, Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed that his parents have been making concerted efforts to reinsert themselves into his professional life again.

"These past few days, my parents have tried to force their way back into my life, and I need to hold them back,” said Tsitsipas. “They need to be held back"

For those who do not know Stefanos has had a complicated, on-and-off relationship with his father, who had been on his team in the early part of his professional career. The Greek tennis star parted ways with his father in August last year, after publicly criticizing and blaming his father for his recent losses.

However, he emphasized the importance of establishing boundaries to ensure both his personal well-being and professional growth.

In the past we have seen multiple father-child duos succeed on the tennis tour. This includes the likes of Serena and Venus Williams with their father, Caroline Wozniacki and her dad also were a team and travelled together, and we currently have the likes of Alexander Zverev as well being coached by his father and brother. However there have been toxic relationships as well on the tour, such as the tragic and dreadful father-daughter partnership of Jelena Dokic.

The complexities of Tsitsipas's relationship with his parents underscore the challenges athletes often face when family members are deeply involved in their careers. As Tsitsipas continues to battle forward into the 2025 clay season, he needs to remain focused on achieving success on his own terms while striving to maintain healthy family relationships, especially with his parents.

It remains to be seen in which direction Stefanos Tsitsipas’s relationship moves forward with his parents, but for now he looks adamant to keep his father away from his professional life on the tour.
