'There was a lot of trouble on the streets': Novak Djokovic shares fears at Paris violence with hotel near unrest

Novak Djokovic wasn't able to watch the Champions League Final as the 24-time Grand Slam champion was made to play the night session after all. But he did potentially see his safety called into question amid the win for PSG.

There was violent unrest on the streets of Paris as they were crowned European champions for the first time. Hundreds were arrested, a teenager was stabbed to death and violence broke out throughout Paris.

Staying right near the Arc de Triomphe, Djokovic often likes to deviate from staying at player hotels or near the site of Grand Slams. But in reality in this case, it has done more harm than good as he said they had to discuss a move of hotels.

Given when he finished too, he said there was also a debate about whether he would even end up going back to the hotel given what broke out at the time.

'There was quite a debate in the locker room with the chief of security as to whether we should go to the hotel," said Djokovic on TNT Sports.

"At one point they were discussing whether we should stay at the rooms and hotels around Roland Garros, because where we are staying is quite close to the Arc de Triomphe.

"It was quite a scene yesterday, there was a lot of trouble on the streets.

"We barely made it to the hotel around 1am to be honest. It was quite an adventure I must say. In the end we were good. It is a big thing for Paris.'

Next up tomorrow is Cameron Norrie as he aims to reach the Quarter-Finals. But while the unrest continues in Paris, Djokovic said that given the situation he understands why as they thrashed Inter Milan.
