The PlayStation Store had an oopsy moment yesterday before the Destiny 2 reveal stream. They accidentally posted the Pre-Order for the Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition. The image accompanying the Pre-Order made fans go ballistic over the potential crossover they were seeing. With the Reveal stream yesterday, the image leak was confirmed as the truth, and that caused a frenzy in the Destiny 2 community.
The leaked image displayed multiple Guardians with various gear. Two weapons stood out to the community: A Han Solo-esque Blaster and a Lightsaber. While Destiny 2 already has a crossover with Star Wars, the appearance of a lightsaber made the community lose their minds. Would we get a Lightsaber in Destiny 2? The community would have to wait until the reveal stream later that day to get a confirmation on the PlayStation store leaks.
As the reveal stream progressed, the likelihood of a Destiny 2 lightsaber dimmed by the minute. That was until the end of the stream when Bungie displayed the trailer for the Renegades expansion. In the trailer, Bungie confirmed that the expansion has ties to the Star Wars Universe. From weapons to vehicles to cosmetics, players will receive a cohort of Star Wars-themed gear when the expansion launches on December 2nd, 2025. The Lightsaber will likely be a sword variant in Destiny 2, perhaps even an Exotic.
It is not the first time Sony has leaked Destiny 2 content since they partnered with Bungie not too long ago. Before the official release of the Final Shape DLC, PlayStation players received the update early, allowing them to enter the game and experience the beginnings of the Final Shape campaign. Bungie and Sony caught on relatively quickly and did not allow players to progress through the campaign for much longer. However, this does not bode well for future updates. Will Sony accidentally push the Edge of Fate to release early, or will they leak another massive announcement?
