Gamescom 2025 just unveiled the preview of Dying Light: The Beast, and it is giving nostalgia to fans of the series. Dying Light: The Beast was part of the line-up of games during the HANDS-ON Preview portion at Gamescom 2025, and players got to experience playing the demo. Many players felt a sense of nostalgia for the game because of the similar feelings they felt playing the first game. Here’s how players felt at the HANDS-ON Preview and what we should expect from this new game coming out.
The game has you follow protagonist Kyle Crane and his journey through the apocalypse and thousands of undead monstrosities. In an open-world action survival game, you are on a quest for revenge against The Baron, a man who had kidnapped and imprisoned you for years, conducting painful experiments. We have to learn to control the beast inside us, while picking up clues to finally get our revenge against the man who turned us into a monster.
The gameplay, story narrative, open-world exploration, and full immersion bring you back to basics. It’s a much more focused game than Dying Light 2, which expanded everything from 1. However, this game has narrowed itself, and gamers are really excited for this upcoming sequel.
Players are actually pumped for Dying Light: The Beast to come out at the end of this month. The highlight of the Dying Light games is the parkour aspect, which is also what the game is mainly known for. Gamers felt a little disappointed with Dying Light 2, which focuses a lot less on parkour. However, the preview does show much more of the original game in it, which was positively received by players who played the demo, citing that it reminded them of the good times they had when playing the first game. And the sentiment was shared by plenty of gamers.
Dying Light: The Beast is the next installment of the Dying Light series and is set to come out on September 18 of this year. It is available for pre-order now and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
