Little Nightmares 3 just had a fantastic run at Gamescom, where we got a chance to finally see a preview of the game after a year-long delay, as well as getting a release date for the game, exciting fans, and raising anticipation. With the preview, players got the chance to experience the first couple of hours of the game, which was also available in co-op. Players raved about the macabre and dreadful atmosphere they felt, comparing it to the first game; however, there were some reservations about the co-op mechanics of the game. Here’s what gamers had to say about the game, specifically the co-op mechanics.
Players and I have been waiting for this next installment to the Little Nightmares franchise. However, apparently, all is not as it seems because there have been reservations about co-op gameplay. For the most part, it seems people relatively enjoyed the demo; however, people had difficulty working together during boss fights, and people experienced stiffness when using the weapons each main character specializes in, making reacting difficult.
Death in this game is also very unforgiving. Stealth is a very important mechanic in the game, and players have expressed that the AI of enemy movement tracking cannot be anticipated between two characters. It made things a little confusing and frustrating for players working together to fight or avoid enemies. To reiterate, stealth is an important mechanic in the game, and with that, timing your movements, which are 10 times slower than enemies, is incredibly difficult. Players also had a difficult time in this aspect, having to retry certain sections of the game because of the unforgiving nature of death.
Little Nightmares 3 is set to release next month. Though co-op is a bit clunky in this installment, it may add a bit of a challenge to this game; however, your friendship with your co-op buddy with also be tested. As a fan of the series, I am curious to see where this story will lead us and whether or not we will see a return of Six and her mischievous ways in this installment of the series.
