After a crazy LTA North finals, all teams have qualified for the Mid-Season Invitational. Some teams that have qualified may surprise less avid professional League of Legends watchers. The defending MSI champions, GenG Esports, are back to defend their title. The event takes place from June 27th to July 12th. All matches will take place in the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, Canada. It is the first international event in Canada.

Ten teams have qualified for MSI 2025. Six of those teams begin in the Bracket Stage, while the other four battle it out in the Play-in. All regions have one team in the Bracket Stage except LCK. Hanwha Life Esports’ First Stand victory earned the LCK the extra Bracket Stage team.

Bracket Stage

  • GenG Esports – LCK 1st Seed
  • Koi – LEC 1st Seed
  • Anyone’s Legend – LPL 1st Seed
  • CTBC Flying Oyster – LCP 1st Seed
  • FlyQuest – LTA North Seed
  • T1 – LCK 2nd Seed

Play-in

  • Bilibili Gaming – LPL 2nd Seed
  • GAM Esports – LCP 2nd Seed

MSI Schedule and Format

Play-Ins

The Play-ins matches occur on June 27th, 28th, and 29th. Days One and Two will feature two matches, with the first match starting at noon PST (9:00 p.m. CET). They predict the second match to start at 5:00 p.m. PST (2:00 a.m. CET on June 28th). The 29th will feature one match that begins at 5:00 p.m. PST. All matches are Bo5 with Fearless Draft. The teams play in a GSL Format, meaning the 2-0 and 2-1 teams qualify for the Bracket Stage.

Bracket Stage

The Bracket Stage matches happen from July 2nd through to July 12th. The match dates are unconfirmed. The match times should be the same as the Play-In stage. All matches are Bo5 with Fearless Draft following a Double-elimination format. The winner of MSI qualifies for Worlds (they will need to make their regional playoffs in Split 3), and the second-place region earns a fourth spot for its domestic league.

Predictions

The obvious favorites to take it all are the defending champions, GenG. They have not lost a series since losing to HLE in the LCK Cup final. T1 showed an incredible performance in their qualifying match, and if they perform at the same level, they may stand a chance. The LPL‘s performance seems to be lower than LCK’s, but they tend to show up at international events. If other teams win MSI, it will come as a massive shock to the world. Let us know who you think will lift the trophy in Vancouver.
