The day before Friyay! The Epic Games Store gives us more reasons to look forward to the weekend. This week, they have three amazing games to claim for free, and two of them are available on mobile as well as PC. Let’s dig into these titles to see what we’ll be playing this weekend.

Monument Valley II

Last week, the Epic Games Store gave us Monument Valley for free, and this week, we’re getting the second game in the series for both PC and mobile. These games are so beautiful with their colorful and surreal environments. This time, it’s a new story as you guide Ro and her child through new puzzles in Ro’s “journey through motherhood.” It’s a stand-alone story, so if you didn’t get the first game, that’s OK. You won’t feel lost. The game description explains that you manipulate the environment through click and drag controls that are specifically designed to make play on PC more “unique and tactile.”

Monument Valley  II was developed and published by ustwo games and, like its predecessor, the game has received many game awards. And, if the visuals aren’t enough to entice you,  maybe the complimentary blurbs on their website will. Like this one from Pocket  Gamer:

“This is a game about mothers and daughters the cyclical nature of life and how we carry on the legacy of the people that came before us. It is in short nothing short of incredible.”

The Battle of Polytopia

The Battle of Polytopia from Midjiwan AB is the second free PC + mobile game from the Epic Games Store this week. At first glance, this low-poly art style game appears to share many similarities with Civilization. Well, if it were designed with children’s toys! But the art style is super cute, and this is a legit turn-based strategy game. I checked its reviews on Steam, and it’s “overwhelmingly positive.” So that’s a good sign!

The description mentions single player, multiplayer, leaderboards, configurable maps, and offline play (very useful whether you’re on PC or mobile). Also, on the Epic Games Store, there are a number of DLC and add-ons available at just $0.99 each. So, if you grab this freebie and it’s a winner for you, there’s content available to expand the game experience.

Ghostrunner 2

The last freebie from the Epic Games Store this week is Ghostrunner 2. This one is PC only. It’s listed as a single-player action-adventure game. It’s first-person and described as “hardcore.” This is clearly a much more violent game than the first two, and the screenshots make that clear. This one will have you fighting enemies to “save humanity” while wielding a katana as well as riding a motorbike (yep, that’s in first-person too).

They’ve added more skills for this second game in the series, as well as environments that include things like exploding barrels and destructible walls. And it isn’t just all hack and slash. There’s a story with dialogue and lore here, too. You’ll be fighting, building skills, and riding motorbikes through this game to the synthwave soundtrack, which matches the pace and graphics. This is definitely one for you if you’re a fan of first-person action.

How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store

Whether you want to play on your PC or your Android (or iOS) device, you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a PC, you can download the  Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know, I know. That’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.

For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.

And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.

Happy gaming!
