Stephen A Smith opened up First Take with a debate about Caitlin Clark and the physicality towards her during her rookie season. This debate became heated when Monica McNutt offered her opinion on the situation as well as Shannon Sharpe who joined in. It was one of the longest segments on the show and went for 40 minutes before Molly Qerim had to tell them the show needed to go to commercial.
The part of this debate that is blowing up on social media happened near the end when Stephen A Smith said “who talks about the WNBA, who talks about women, who talks about women’s sports more than First Take?” Monica then responded saying “Stephen A respectfully with your platform you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to.” Stephen A reacted with a shocked look on his face and went silent for a minute before saying wow.

Monica McNutt: "Stephen A., respectfully, with your platform, you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to."
