Aces waive Carter, add shooting with Pissott signing

The Las Vegas Aces moved quickly Tuesday, waiving Chennedy Carter and signing 6-foot-4 guard/forward Justine Pissott.

The team announced Carter’s release at 2:03 p.m. PT, then announced Pissott’s signing three minutes later. The move gives Las Vegas another shooting option two days after an 84-68 loss to the Indiana Fever.

Guard spot shifts

Carter’s time with the Aces ends after 13 games.

She averaged 12.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 16.9 minutes per game. She also shot 60 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from 3, giving Las Vegas efficient bench scoring when available.

However, Carter’s season never fully settled after a strong start. She missed time early because of injury, then later missed time with illness. As a result, the Aces never got a long, consistent look at how she fit inside the rotation.

Shooting addition

Pissott arrives as a different kind of option.

The Fever drafted her in the second round of the 2026 WNBA Draft out of Vanderbilt. Indiana signed her as a development player, and she appeared in one preseason game, scoring eight points while shooting 2-for-3 from 3 in a 109-91 win over New York.

That shooting profile matters for Las Vegas. The Aces went 4-for-19 from 3 in Sunday’s loss to Indiana, and Pissott gives them another floor-spacing option as the front office adjusts the roster.

College growth

Pissott began her college career at Tennessee in 2022-23 before transferring to Vanderbilt for her final three seasons.

At Vanderbilt, she helped the Commodores go 74-26 with three NCAA Tournament appearances. As a senior, she averaged career highs of 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists while helping Vanderbilt finish 29-5, reach the Sweet 16 and earn a No. 6 final ranking.

Her biggest jump came from the arc. Pissott went from shooting 26.1 percent from 3 on fewer than two attempts per game as a freshman to 42.2 percent on nearly seven attempts per game as a senior.

Roster reset

The move also gives the Aces more size on the wing.

Pissott, a Toms River, New Jersey, native, was a 2022 McDonald’s All-American at Red Bank Catholic High School. She also played for USA Basketball on the 2022 USA U18 National Team, averaging 6.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists during a gold-medal run at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup.

Pissott will wear No. 13 for Las Vegas.
