The Indiana Fever and Golden State Valkyries have built a budding rivalry this season. They already met twice, splitting the results. Both games were hotly contested and included several altercations and heated moments.

Indiana won 90-82 at home on May 22 before Golden State bounced back with a 90-88 victory on Thursday. Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston led the Fever’s charge in both matchups. The superstar guard dropped 22 and 16 points, while the three-time All-Star center produced 20 and 13, respectively.

Fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Chase Center made their presence felt with loud cheers for their teams. They also pressured the visiting squad throughout the games. The Fever and Valkyries will clash again on July 15 in Indiana, and it will be interesting to see how the home fans will show their support.

Indiana Fever: Aliyah Boston opens up on getting booed by Valkyries fans

The media asked Boston after the game how she felt when Valkyries fans booed her and her teammates. She stressed that she wasn’t fazed, having played in similar surroundings during college.

“I think you’re used to it,” Boston said. “I mean, in college, obviously you play in sold-out arenas, and then to come here and continue to play in sold-out arenas, you know everyone’s going to show up. But it’s fun. I mean, this is what you play professional basketball for. It’s fun to have people boo you when you run out, but also to continue to show up and play your best game.

“The energy in this building is always super high. It’s always exciting to play. But once you’re in the game, you’re really focused on what you’re doing.”

The 24-year-old played a key role for the South Carolina Gamecocks during her collegiate career. She won the national championship with the program and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2022. Boston aims to carry her college success to the WNBA and help lead the Fever to a title this year.
