After a roller-coaster debut for the Atlanta Dream, Angel Reese delivered a game-winning block for the side. The confidence kept on growing as the forward played a significant role in the team’s progress. She even made a game-winning steal against the Phoenix Mercury, keeping the team in the top three rankings.
While she is making an impact in multiple ways, one stat that remains constantly high is rebounding, and 71 games into the league, she completed a 900-rebound tally and became the fastest player to reach the 900+ points and 900+ rebounds milestone.
Talking about her reliance on rebounding, AR5 said, “Yeah, just kind of finding ways to get in where I fit in. I know rebounds is something that I can always rely on, no matter how the game is going. I knew tonight that I was going to be able to get a lot of offensive rebounds, and I think last game I didn’t do a great job of getting offensive rebounds or even defensive rebounds.”
I asked Angel Reese on picking up her fourth double-double of the season, what worked for her down the stretch of this game and how she's continuing to build confidence with @AtlantaDream:

Recording a game high of 12 rebounds against the Portland Fore, she takes pride in rebounding and getting those extra second-chance points. The former LSU Star registered her 57th double-double in 71 games, making a strong statement in the league about her capability around the rim. While her performance also came with a bit of controversy, as Reese escaped potential ejection following disrespect to the official’s decision.
She is also in line to break the double-double record, as there is renewed confidence in her game playing for the Atlanta team. But fans will be waiting for next week’s fixture for one particular reason.
The Chicago Sky vs the Indiana Fever games were a blockbuster for WNBA fans just for the Reese-Clark rivalry. On paper, both teams were even, but on the court, the Fever dominated the proceedings with seven wins in eight encounters. Their only loss was also a marginal one-point difference between the two sides.
Now playing with a contender, the Atlanta Dream team, Reese can have a strong chance of winning those games. Their first faceoff will be on June 4 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse arena. Both players have had strong seasons so far, and it would be an interesting matchup.
The Atlanta Team might also have revenge in their minds following a first-round exit in the 2025 WNBA playoffs.
