Las Vegas Aces rookie Aaliyah Nye had the best game of her young career on the road against the Seattle Storm Sunday.
Coming off the bench, Nye scored 10 points in 11 minutes, also snagging a rebound. The rookie guard went 3 of 6 from the field and 1 of 4 from distance.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon shouted out Nye, Dana Evans and Tiffany Mitchell in her postgame presser after the 75-70 Aces win.
"Per usual, (Aaliyah's) ready to go, she was locked in. I thought Dana's run for us in that first half was really, really good. Was pesky defensively, and then was hitting shots, getting downhill offensively," Hammon said, via the Sporting Tribune. "I thought everybody that actually came in. I thought Tiff Mitchell played great minutes. So good bench minutes. I thought overall today for us, and that's something I want to continue to build on."
The 13th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft for Las Vegas, Nye hasn't played more than 18 minutes in a game so far this season. That could change if continues to be aggressive and show improvement.
Nye began her collegiate career at the University of Illinois, where she played from 2020-21. After transferring to the University of Alabama in 2022, she earned a rep for being one of the better long-range shooters in the NCAA.

She set a school record with 108 3-pointers in the 2023-24 season, only to turn around and break her own record the following year as a senior, making 111 shots from beyond the arc.
As a senior, she started all 33 games for the Crimson Tide, averaging 15.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. She shot 45.4% from the field and boasted the nation's best 3-point percentage, hitting 45.5% of her attempts.
"Each game we just want to get better," Nye said after beating the Storm. "As we play together, we're getting more comfortable, so we want to just keep what the first group had, and just hone off that, and stay in the game and do the right thing and do the disciplined plays that we're taught to do."
