Caitlin Clark Has Tough Milestone in Fever's Win vs. Dream

If there's one thing Caitlin Clark is known for, it's her signature logo 3-point shots.

But in Thursday night's 81-76 win over the Atlanta Dream, Clark failed to hit any shots beyond the arc for the first game in her WNBA career. The Fever star went 0-5 from distance against the Dream, finishing with a season-low 11 points. She went 4-11 from the field, also dishing out six assists and snagging four rebounds.

Clark's difficulties hitting long range shots almost felt contagious, as Indiana struggled to hit threes all evening. The Fever finished the night going 7-23 from downtown (that's an unimpressive 30.4%) and they also struggled from the free-throw line, hitting just 53.3% of their chances from the charity stripe.

"They're tough to handle," Fever head coach Stephanie White said after the win. "Obviously, they've got a lot of Olympians, they're quick and skilled on the perimeter, they're big and strong and tough on the interior, they're experienced. ... That's why it takes a collective effort, and the contributions that we got from our bench were huge."

Indiana's bench chipped in 22 points, led by Lexie Hull's 10. Sophie Cunningham also added nine points. Forward Natasha Howard was the Fever's saving grace in the win, leading the team with 26 points.

As for Clark going her first game without making a 3-pointer, it's an occurrence that's likely going to become a tad more frequent, as opposing teams are going to continue to work diligently to limit her there. It'll be up to her, White and her teammates to figure out ways to conjure up more opportunities. She had made a three in 42 straight games previously, which set a WNBA record for the longest streak to start a player's career.

Next up, the Fever host the 2-0 New York Liberty at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.
