PHOENIX — The Indiana Fever announced they have waived DeWanna Bonner Wednesday morning, and now it seems like the two-time WNBA Champion could make her way back over to the Phoenix Mercury.
How do fans feel about the potential reunion?
A Reunion After Five Years?
Bonner has history in the desert, winning both of her championships with the Mercury in 2009 and 2014. She has veteran experience not only in the league but also overseas that can help bolster a roster filled with rookies.
However, Mercury and WNBA fans remain skeptical about the potential move, concerned about losing the momentum Phoenix has built this season.
As long as we are not losing our solid rookie core! We really have a great thing going on in Phoenix now. Best team basketball we have been playing in a long time.
I don’t think it’s worth it

I’m a huge WNBA fan! I watch a ton of games, and those ladies can hoop! It’s not a good look for the league if Bonner joins the Phoenix Mercury.
She signed with Indiana in the offseason, quit on the team, Indy granted her release, to go play with her girlfriend in Phoenix?

Gaby is right. I’m telling you right now, if Bonner goes to Phoenix.. it’ll be the same as on the Sun, possibly worse. Mercury is better off how they are now, that is, if they’re trying to win.

Super curious to see how this unfolds. Y’all know how badly I want DB back in Phoenix, but I think Owen is right here — big risk to upset the chemistry the Mercury have going right now. On the other hand, does AT put pressure on U’Ren to get this done? Chemistry vs experience? https://t.co/dtmqjig8B0

Phoenix hasn’t made a move yet, with the front office worried about a possible disruption within the core if a sudden move is made, according to Annie Costabile from Front Office Sports.
Bonner is also considering the Atlanta Dream as another option.
