The Indiana Fever escaped with a narrow victory over the last-place Connecticut Sun on Sunday, picking up a 99-93 victory in overtime on the road.
With two-time WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark out for her 13th straight game with a right groin injury, and sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham going down with a right knee injury after 10 minutes of run, the Fever got a masterclass performance from Kelsey Mitchell.
The three-time WNBA All-Star dropped 38 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 from deep, tying her career-high in points. Her five threes also picked up the team's slack from behind the arc, as the rest of the team shot a combined 2-of-14 from deep.
When speaking to the media after the game, Fever head coach Stephanie White revealed that Mitchell's performance left her "speechless."
Steph White on the play of Kelsey Mitchell: "Speechless, really. ... Just put us on her back, made big shot after big shot, big play after big play.

"She willed us."
The Fever needed every single one of Mitchell's big shots, as the Sun got a tremendous outing from Tina Charles, Marina Mabrey and Saniya Rivers who combined for 63 points between the three of them.
The win also kept the Fever firmly in seventh place in the WNBA Playoff race.
The injury bug has not been kind to the Fever as of late, as they are missing a handful of key contributors:
As a result they signed Odyssey Sims, who dropped 19 points in a team-high 42 minutes on Sunday, to a hardship contract, and also brought in Kyra Lambert on a hardship contract.
With the Fever not playing until Friday, there could be reason for hope that Clark will be able to return after not having played since July 15.
If Clark continues to miss games and Cunningham is out for an extended period of time, the Fever's chances of making the playoffs could take a huge hit. As of writing, they sit in seventh place with four of their next five games against teams currently in line to make the playoffs.
Certainly not how fans had hoped this season would have gone, but injuries are unfortunately a part of the game.
