Fever Make Kelsey Mitchell Request Amid Game Against Sparks
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

In the thick of their midseason push, the Indiana Fever (7-7) found themselves squarely in the mix for a playoff berth entering Thursday's matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Under coach Stephanie White, the Fever have been one of the league’s most entertaining offensive teams, ranking second in points per game (84.0) while playing .500 basketball through 14 contests.

With the WNBA All-Star Game looming on July 19 in Indianapolis, the stakes for every game are at an all-time high.

Against the Sparks on Thursday, the Fever carried a narrow 39-38 lead into the back half of the third quarter.

With just under five minutes on the clock, guard Kelsey Mitchell sprinted downcourt and sank a transition three from the top of the key, igniting both the bench and home crowd.

Indiana wasted no time capturing the moment, posting the clip to X with a straightforward plea to “Vote Kelz” into the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.

A two-time WNBA All-Star already (2023 and 2024), Mitchell has steadily climbed the Fever’s franchise leaderboard.

Before Thursday's game, Mitchell had accumulated 4,174 total points, 1,474 field goals, 585 3-point field goals and 684 assists.

This year, she’s averaging 17.9 points per contest while adding 2.5 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals, all on 43.6% shooting from the floor.

Before getting drafted second overall by Indiana in 2018, Mitchell enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Ohio State, where she was a four-time All-American, a four-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree and Big Ten Player of the Year in 2017.
