Fever Rookie Makes Bold DeWanna Bonner Move

The Indiana Fever picked up a much-needed win on Tuesday night, improving to 7-7 on the season with a 94-86 road victory against the Seattle Storm.

Caitlin Clark's shooting struggles made headlines, but she still recorded nine assists as Kelsey Mitchell (26 points, five 3-pointers) and Aliyah Boston (career-high 31 points) carried the load offensively for Indiana.

However, there were two players who did not crack head coach Stephanie White's rotation on Tuesday: DeWanna Bonner and Makayla Timpson.

Bonner, who has scored the third-most career points in WNBA history, missed her fifth consecutive game due to personal reasons, with a concerning report emerging before the game that the team is headed for a "breakup" with the veteran star.

In the middle of the Fever-Storm game, Bonner made an Instagram post that showed where her focus lies outside of basketball.

She shared a photo of the children she shares with her wife, Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas, with the caption, "My greatest loves!!I love you!"

Bonner's post drew comments from Thomas and WNBA veterans DiJonai Carrington and Isabelle Harrison, but perhaps the boldest one came from Timpson — a Fever rookie who did not see any game action against the Storm.

Shortly after the game, she commented "❤️❤️" on Bonner's post, making her the only Indiana player to respond publicly to their castaway teammate.

Timpson's response stood in contrast to White's reaction when she was asked about the reports of Bonner leaving the team.

The first-year coach quickly moved on from the question, stating said she had not been talking to Bonner and was focused on the rest of the team.

That focus has not included Timpson of late, despite the lack of frontcourt options in Bonner's absence. She did not see the court during the Fever's three-game road trip against the Golden State Valkyries, Las Vegas Aces and the Storm.

The second-round pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft has played 11 minutes all season, averaging 0.6 points and 0.4 rebounds in the five games she has appeared in.
