The Indiana Fever continue to fight in the 2025 WNBA Playoffs despite being underdogs. In the first round, the No. 6 seed Fever upset the No. 3 seed Atlanta Dream 2-1, before defeating the No. 2 seed Las Vegas Aces in Game 1 of the semifinals on Sunday. Indiana is doing this despite missing numerous players due to injury, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham.
Last season, the Fever reached the postseason for the first time since 2016 behind the play of their All-WNBA rookie. But the team went through several changes over the offseason, replacing veterans Erica Wheeler and Katie Lou Samuelson with Cunningham and Natasha Howard. Wheeler, who spent six seasons in Indiana and earned an All-Star nod, went on to join the Seattle Storm, where she played a pivotal role in their playoff run.
But Wheeler and the No. 7 seed Storm had their season end in the first round with a 2-1 loss to the Aces. Now, Wheeler is set to join a different league in the offseason.
On Monday, it was announced that Wheeler will head to Miami in January 2026 for the second season of the 3-on-3 basketball league Unrivaled, which was founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. The league held its inaugural season this year, featuring a few of Wheeler's former Fever teammates, including Lexie Hull and Aliyah Boston.
Along with Wheeler, Unrivaled revealed six other players who will be featured in season two, including:
"ERICA WHEELER IS UNRIVALED ✅," Unrivaled Basketball wrote on X. "Presented by @Ally. Catch her in Season 2 starting Jan. 5 on TNT, truTV and Max. "
