The Indiana Fever have a 21-20 record during the 2025 WNBA season. They are currently in eighth place in the league standings, clinging to the last playoff spot with just three games remaining. The 19-20 Los Angeles Sparks are just 1.0 games back from the Fever.
Indiana has struggled this season because they have not been able to field a consistent lineup due to various injuries. Star guard Caitlin Clark has been out for the majority of the year, and Sophie Cunningham was just lost for the season as well.
Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson both suffered season-ending injuries, too, so it has been largely up to Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to carry the torch for the Fever. Boston has improved yet again in her third season, averaging 15.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in 2025.
On Wednesday's edition of PostMoves , Boston's weekly podcast with WNBA legend Candace Parker, she was asked if there was a current WNBA rule that she would like to change.
Boston's answer was that she would make an adjustment to how the coach's challenges work.
"I think that there shouldn't be a limit on your challenges if you continue to win them," Boston said. "After two [challenges], you should still be able to challenge if you won both of them. Because one, you're great at reviews, and two, if there's another call that could be close to the end of the game, and you need to challenge it, but you can't because you already won twice. I feel like you should be able to keep your challenge if you keep winning."
Poor refereeing decisions certainly play a factor in WNBA games, so despite her success, it is understandable why Boston would want this rule change implemented.
Obviously, this kind of change would need to go through the league office, but one of the league's best players is already calling for a change, so perhaps one could be in store.
Boston has been one of the league's best players since being selected first overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft by the Fever. In three seasons, she has earned three All-Star bids and been named the Rookie of the Year.
She has also averaged over 14.0 points and 8.2 rebounds in each of her three professional campaigns, and her assist per game numbers have increased every year she has been in the league.
