MINNEAPOLIS — The Phoenix Mercury have a three-game winning streak, looking to make it four in a row as they face the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday in a rematch from last week.
Phoenix Preview
The Mercury had one of their most thrilling games of the year on July 14 after defeating the Golden State Valkyries, 78-77. It was a back-and-forth game, with Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas scoring the winning free throw to seal their 15th win of the season.
DeWanna Bonner had the best performance of the night for the Mercury off the bench, scoring 22 points with 11 rebounds.
Phoenix enters Minneota with a 15-6 record and in second place in the Western Conference.
Minnesota Preview
The Lynx redeemed their previous loss to the Chicago Sky after defeating the Sky, 91-78, on July 14. While it was a close game to send the first half, Minnesota’s Bridget Carleton made a three-point shot to open the third quarter to take the lead for the rest of the game.
Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier led the scoring with 29 points, shooting 50.0% from the field and 57.1% from three.
The Lynx are 19-4 and continue to hold first in the Western Conference.
Last Encounter
The last time both teams met was on July 9, when the Mercury took a 79-71 win over the Lynx. Phoenix’s 19-4 run in the closing moments of the fourth quarter, with Thomas’ career-high 29 points, paved the way for the win.
