The Washington Mystics will be without rookie guard Georgia Amoore when the team opens the 2025 WNBA regular season Friday night. But the Mystics officially announced ahead of the team's home opener that Amoore won't make her WNBA debut until 2026.

The Mystics stated Friday that Amoore underwent successful right ACL surgery. The team also said Amoore will miss the entire 2025 WNBA season.

Amoore suffered her injury during practice on April 29. The Mystics announced the injury the following day but left open the possibility of the rookie guard not missing her entire first WNBA season.

"Amoore and the team will examine treatment and rehabilitation options and provide an update as appropriate," read a team statement on April 30.

The Mystics drafted the Australian native with the sixth overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft in April. Amoore was one of three selections the Mystics made in the top six of this year's draft.

Washington also picked guard Sonia Citron at No. 3 overall and then forward Kiki Iriafen fourth overall in the 2025 draft.

Amoore spent five seasons in college playing for the Virginia Tech Hokies and Kentucky Wildcats. As a fifth-year senior last season, she posted a career-best 19.6 points and 6.9 assists per game.

With those averages, she made the AP All-American second-team.

Over four seasons with the Hokies, Amoore averaged 14.7 points and 6.9 assists per game.

In addition to Amoore, the Mystics updated the status of injured forward Aaliyah Edwards on Friday. The team announced Edwards has a low back bruise but will begin on-court activities. Edwards will be evaluated again in about two weeks.

The Mystics will open the 2025 WNBA regular season at home against the Atlanta Dream on Friday night.
