Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings were in Indianapolis on Sunday to face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. It marked the first WNBA matchup between the back-to-back No. 1 overall picks who have had plenty of battles over the years since fifth grade.

The game remained close throughout the first quarter, but the Fever exploded in the second, taking a 64–42 lead into halftime. Indiana outscored Dallas by 21 in that second frame, with Bueckers and Clark finishing the half with 10 points apiece.

Bueckers entered the afternoon with 290 points in her WNBA career. With her 10 points to reach 300, the 23-year-old is now tied as the fifth-fastest guard in WNBA history to reach that amount.

The four other players are Clark, Cynthia Cooper, Cappie Pondexter and Seimone Augustus.

Bueckers has had an outstanding rookie season so far. In addition to entering Sunday as the WNBA rookie leader in scoring, assists and steals, she was named Rookie of the Month for June, selected as a WNBA All-Star and is the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award.

Bueckers is coming off a five-year run with the UConn Huskies. During her college career, she was a three-time unanimous First Team All-American, a three-time Big East Player of the Year, the National Player of the Year in 2021 and led her team to a national championship in April.

The 6-foot guard had her best collegiate season statistically in 2023-24, averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
