LSU Forward Angel Reese was a first-round pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky, and she put together an incredible rookie season. She made the All-Star and All-Rookie teams after averaging 13.6 points and a league-record 13.1 rebounds per contest.
Reese has taken her game to another level during her second professional season, making the 2025 WNBA All-Star team and doubling her assist total from 1.9 to 3.8 per game. She is also contributing 13.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per contest for the 6-13 Sky.
The second-year forward has also shone off the court, as she was recently named the cover athlete for the WNBA edition of EA Sports' 2K26 video game. Reebok also announced that her signature shoe, "The Angel Reese 1," is releasing soon.
New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu, a four-time All-Star and three-time All-WNBA player, was also featured on the cover of EA Sports' 2K24 WNBA edition.
According to Madeline Kenney of the New York Post, Ionescu thought that it was "iconic" for Reese to debut her signature shoe on the cover of 2K26. She also asserted that these announcements were like "knocking two birds with one stone."
"Knowing the significance and the importance of how cool it is to be on the cover of 2K, like, video games are played worldwide," Ionescu said. "Everyone knows who's on the cover every single year. There's this anticipation, and I'm really happy for her to be able to see her kind of get her flowers so early on in her career, just knowing that I was able to be on it and how that moment meant a lot for me and my family."
