Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was the subject of the commentary of one conservative commentator, as he highlighted how the racism in the WNBA towards Clark would be the downfall of the league’s viewership once more.
In one of his recent videos , Ben Shapiro got honest on his take on the issue of racism in the WNBA and Caitlin Clark, and how he believes this may be the downfall of the league in terms of viewership and audience appeal.
“So the way that it works is if no racism happens in the stands, the WNBA does a full investigation,” Shapiro said. “If there are hard fouls on Caitlyn Clark every night and Britney Griner is using slurs like pretty openly against Caitlin Clark, then it’s racism to even pay attention to any of that.”
“You see, everything has to end in racism,” he went on. “If you were to create a flowchart, what it would look like is that something racist didn’t happen, therefore investigate racism. or something maybe racist happened but was against a white person. You mentioning this is also probably racism against black people. If you want to get people never to watch the WNBA, this is an amazing way to do it.”
“Truly an amazing way to do it because if the league is going to be rooted in this sort of nastiness with regard to its only real star, good luck to them and we’ll see what the viewership is like in the WNBA. Truly, truly idiocy.”
Caitlin Clark’s injury has significantly impacted the Indiana Fever, as the team struggles to secure victories without its star player. Since Clark’s left quadriceps strain sidelined her, the Fever have lost three consecutive games, highlighting her importance to the team’s success.
Despite these setbacks, ESPN’s Matchup Predictor still favors Indiana to win their upcoming game against the Chicago Sky, giving them a 57.6% chance of victory. However, the Fever’s previous loss to the Washington Mystics, despite similar predictions, raises concerns about their ability to perform without Clark.
Indiana’s roster has been further weakened by injuries to key players, including Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham, leaving their guard rotation dangerously thin. The Fever’s struggles contrast with the Sky’s recent momentum, as Angel Reese and her teammates have secured back-to-back wins against the Dallas Wings.
Until Clark is back on the court, the Fever will need to rely on their remaining players to step up and keep their playoff hopes alive. Caitlin Clark’s return will be crucial in determining the team’s trajectory for the rest of the season.
