Wings Make Paige Bueckers Announcement After Unfortunate News

Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings are coming off a tough 87-86 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Monday. Phoenix guard Kahleah Copper scored a go-ahead layup with under three seconds remaining in the game, capping off her game-high 31-point performance on an efficient 10-for-17 shooting from the field.

Forward Alyssa Thomas ended with her fifth triple-double of the season, scoring 15 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing a game-high 12 assists. Dallas forward Jessica Shepard finished with game highs in rebounds and minutes played, with 19 rebounds and 36 minutes. Wings guard Bueckers had an unfortunate air-ball miss on a last-second shot to win the game.

Despite the rough ending, Bueckers finished with a team-high 30 points, including shooting 4-for-5 on 3-point shots. The 6-foot guard also finished with a team-high seven assists, five rebounds and a steal. The point total brought the former No. 1 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft to 853 for the season.

When the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year passed the 850-point mark, the Wings went to social media to announce that it was a franchise first. On the social media website X, Dallas wrote that with her 850th point, the Hopkins High School graduate became the first player in franchise history to achieve the feat.

The Wings also took the time to promote the Minnesota native for the 2026 WNBA MVP award along with All-WNBA honors.
