Clash in Paris delivered a shocking twist as Becky Lynch was revealed as the newest member of Seth Rollins’ villainous ‘The Vision’ faction, joining forces with Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. The reigning Women’s Intercontinental Champion played a pivotal role in the night’s Fatal 4-Way main event, costing CM Punk the World Title in front of a stunned crowd in the French capital.

But the bigger story may be what this means for the future. Pairing Rollins and Lynch in such a direct storyline against Punk feels intentional, especially with WWE’s September 20 debut on ESPN for WrestlePalooza just around the corner.

And in an era where fans have learned to expect the unexpected, the long-rumored return of AJ Lee suddenly feels far more possible than ever. And this teasing brigade continued on the episode of Raw after the event. The September 1 segment of Raw aired from the La Défense Arena in Paris, and Punk made his way out demanding Seth Rollins face him man to man.

Instead, Lynch hit the ring in place of her real-life husband. What followed was a heated, personal back-and-forth. Becky defended Rollins and even called him the greatest man she’s ever known. While Punk credited Lynch as one of the best to ever do it, but branded Rollins as a coward hiding behind titles, allies, and now his wife.

He even highlighted the insane reaction he got from crowds across Europe during the company’s tour in cities like Manchester, Cardiff, Leeds, and Liverpool, while Lynch and Rollins rested on the couch. The tension hit its peak when Rollins appeared on the stage, taunting Punk to confront him.

As the former WWE Champion moved to leave the ring, Lynch unleashed a flurry of slaps, with Punk staying stoic but promising that both Rollins and the Irishwoman would regret crossing him. This pointed towards the potential return of Lee to the WWE after more than a decade.

You’re gonna regret putting your hands on me.

The moment Lynch revealed her face at Clash in Paris, many fans had the same thought that AJ Lee might finally be returning to WWE. The storyline seems to be building toward a mixed tag match featuring Lynch & Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk & a partner, and nobody fits that spot better than Punk’s wife. 

Moments before Lynch’s shocking appearance at the PLE, Rollins took a jab at Punk, shouting that he “hates his family,” adding even more fuel to the speculation. Fans in the arena even chanted warnings at Lynch, reminding her that Punk “has a wife,” to which Punk responded with a confident, knowing look. 

Backstage on Raw, Punk was also seen asking Adam Pearce where SmackDown would be held next, and when told Chicago, Punk smiled and replied, “tremendous.” Fans immediately connected the dots, seeing it as another sign that something special could be on the horizon.

Behind the scenes, WWE is reportedly working to stack the WrestlePalooza card later this month, their first PLE on ESPN, which will air opposite AEW’s All Out. With Brock Lesnar already back and teasing a blockbuster clash with John Cena, adding AJ Lee to the mix would not only complete the nostalgia-fueled hype but also ensure wrestling fans are firmly tuned in to WWE on September 20.

At one point, CM Punk’s WWE return seemed impossible, until Survivor Series 2023 in his hometown of Chicago changed everything. Now, after the shocking events at Clash in Paris and the September 1 episode of Raw, it’s starting to look like AJ Lee could be next to make a comeback when the company returns to the Windy City for SmackDown.

Amid the swirling rumors, Punk shared a heartfelt message for his wife. During WWE’s recent European tour, where he played a major role and appeared across multiple countries, the former World Champion admitted the time away wasn’t easy. Taking to his Instagram story, Punk revealed how much he missed Lee and their dog, Larry, saying it was tough to be away from his family for so long.

Day nine. And we move. I miss my wife and little bubba. It’s too hard being away this long. This is tour.

It will be interesting to see if Punk’s time away from his wife finally ends this Friday on SmackDown, as teased on Raw, with the show returning to Chicago. This moment could set the stage for something even bigger, with a heated rivalry between Punk and Rollins already building toward what promises to be a blockbuster storyline.
