The legacy of WCW featured many of the greatest performers of all time spending time in a major national promotion. WWE and WCW competed for the top spot in the wrestling industry during the entirety of WCW’s tenure. A dream card would feature the biggest stars and memorable feuds putting together a strong show.
Diehard WCW fans would have loved to see an event featuring the best of the promotion to celebrate history. The promotion ending 24 years ago makes the nostalgia stronger, and it’s easier to recognize what stood out most. Each of the following matches would be perfect for a dream all-time WCW card.
The cruiserweight division was the perfect scenario for WCW opening most events with an exciting match. Everyone loved to see the young and exciting stars having back and forth matches to make the audience suspend their collective belief.
Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero had the most memorable rivalry for the Cruiserweight Championship that continued years later in WWE. The opening match between two beloved cruiserweights with strong chemistry would have started things off perfectly.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Both Arn Anderson and Lex Luger are important to WCW’s early years in the late 1980s and glory years during the Monday Night Wars. The two did interact in tag matches and secondary programs, but they never had a true deep feud against each other.
An all-time great United States title reign made Lex a star to have credence to putting that title on the line here. Luger playing the face and channeling his late 1990s character would warrant the victory via the Torture Rack submission to make Anderson take the loss.
Winner: Lex Luger
One of the most beloved rivalries in WCW history featured Diamond Dallas Page breaking out against Randy Savage. Page became a popular rising star and got legitimatized by having strong performances against an established icon.
The match quality led to incredible performances to make fans treat DDP as the people’s champion. Page hitting the Diamond Cutter on Savage always received a massive crowd reaction and would be the perfect way to finish the match.
Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
The three greatest big men in WCW facing off would be perfect for a dream card. Kevin Nash and The Giant had a long feud that featured them both attempting to prove they were the top overall giant in the professional wrestling industry.
However, Vader had even more success than those two as the dominant monster heel for many years in the early 1990s. The importance of Vader’s run to WCW is underrated today and would see him securing the victory over the other giant monsters.
Winner: Vader
Chris Jericho became an unexpected breakout star for WCW in 1998 once he turned heel. The best rival from that time featured Jericho running down babyface Dean Malenko putting more emotion into his character.
WCW fans have appreciated this feud more as time went on to have it holding up throughout the years better than most other rivalries. The Television Championship would feel important in this match, and Jericho would get the victory via cheating as a hated heel.
Winner: Chris Jericho
WCW had two cornerstone tag teams dominating the division for most of its history. The Steiner Brothers and Harlem Heat had a total of 17 combined WCW Tag Team Championship reigns to always add credibility to the division.
There is no debate that these two teams will be the ones fans want to see face off for the tag titles in a historic setting. Rick and Scott represented the backbone of tag team wrestling longer to make them the better choice for a victory.
Winners: Steiner Brothers
The star power of Goldberg in the final four years of WCW made him a massive sensation. Goldberg defeating Hulk Hogan was the biggest victory of his career on one of the most important nights in WCW history.
WCW shockingly never picked back up the feud for a bigger PPV match. Fans wanted more out of this pairing, and it would be the perfect semi-main event for an all-time great card. Goldberg would have to win again here to give the fans the special moment once more.
Winner: Goldberg
Ric Flair and Sting are the two most important wrestlers in WCW history to help build the foundation of the promotion. The legends continued to have great moments in the main event scene and had the final match in company history for good reason.
Sting became a star and the heart of WCW thanks in part to being the perfect face against a heel Flair. This match is the only true option for the WCW Championship on an all-time card. WCW fans would get treated to Sting scoring one more victory as the heroic face.
Winner: Sting
