Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal made his surprise GCW debut at Friday night’s So High event. Mahal attacked Effy following an Effy & Cole Radrick vs. The Rejects match at So High, entering the ring wearing a mask. Mahal hit his Khallas finisher on Effy, then unmasked. Commentary referred to Mahal as “The Maharaja” Raj Dhesi, the moniker the former Mahal will be wrestling under in the next phase of his career. Mahal was released by WWE in April of this year, ending his second stint with the company after nearly eight years. Mahal was also with WWE from 2010 to 2014 both in the FCW developmental system and on the main roster. The 90-day non compete clause enacted after Mahal’s April release recently expired, and the former WWE Champion has announced both a series of independent dates, plus a date with AAA at Triplemania XXXII where he will team with Satnam Singh in a match for AAA’s tag titles. Video from Mahal/Dhesi’s GCW debut is embedded below. Source

Is The Return of Brock Lesnar At SummerSlam 2025 What’s ‘Best For Business?’

In the main event on Night 2 of SummerSlam 2025, John Cena and Cody Rhodes put on a classic, old-school type of performance, which would have made guys like Dusty Rhodes, Macho Man Randy Savage, and others smile from the heavens above. What happened after the match was something that no one in the wrestling world knew of and/or was prepared for: the return of Brock Lesnar. The artificial roof blew inside MetLife Stadium when Lesnar’s music hit, and the facial expression on Cena was priceless. The crowd absolutely lost it, and if there was a moment where commentary, specifically Michael Cole, nailed a reaction, it was the moment when he said “holy sh*t.” That’s exactly what everyone in the arena and likely at home were thinking when Lesnar came out. But the question surrounding Lesnar’s return is a simple one: Is his return what’s “best for business?” John Cena Losing The Title Needed An Immediate Follow-Up Sunday’s main event between Cena and Rhodes was a tip of the cap to old school wrestling, as it felt like a 2025 version of Ric Flair vs. Sting from the ’80s. Cena was a heel for the last few months, and although many felt it didn’t work, the WWE stuck with it as long as they could, which ended on Friday’s SmackDown. Fans were still unsure if the face switch was real, but when Cena’s music hit on Sunday with the “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” feel to it, that’s when everyone knew it was real. Just like I mentioned on the preview of Night 2, before the match began, there were distinct similarities with the WrestleMania 28 match between The Rock and Hulk Hogan, where the heel (Hogan) got the loudest ovation. Cena received the huge ovation while the pure babyface Rhodes received mixed reactions. Throughout the whole match, Cena was getting all of the support while Rhodes continued to get mixed reactions, with the boos sounding louder than the cheers. But just like Rock-Hogan, Cena hit Rhodes with his signature finisher multiple times, but couldn’t put Rhodes away. Rhodes finally dug deep and did everything he needed to so that he could secure the victory. After multiple cross-rhodes finishers, Rhodes got the 1-2-3 and had his hand raised. This truly felt like the “passing of the torch” as Cena gave it his all while also demanding 100% from Rhodes to make sure he was ready to take the mantle as the face of the company. In true wrestling tradition, Rhodes quickly left the ring as he left Cena to receive all of the “flowers” from the crowd. The question everyone was asking themselves was: Where does Cena go from here now that he isn’t the undisputed champion? That question was quickly answered as Lesnar’s music hit, sending MetLife Stadium into a frenzy. Once Lesnar came out and showed his face, the decibel level rose even more. Lesnar slowly made his way to the ring and, after a few minutes, attacked Cena and executed an F5 on him, leaving Cena lying in the middle of the ring. There is no question that Lesnar’s appearance broke the internet, but it was for more than just his return. Brock Lesnar’s Return Is What’s ‘Best For Business?’ Although the reaction to Lesnar was huge live and online, it quickly went down a negative rabbit hole. The reason is that Lesnar is still part of the lawsuit filed against WWE founder Vince McMahon by Janel Grant regarding allegations of sexual abuse. That case has been quiet for months, and there haven’t been too many updates to say whether Lesnar was cleared of anything or not. The fact that TKO brought him out means that either he’s been cleared of any wrongdoing, or there is a forthcoming settlement, allowing things to move forward. Given the reaction that Lesnar received last night, it’s clear that bringing Lesnar back was the right call with regard to wrestling. Whether it was the right business move or not will soon be determined as he begins his story with Cena. They have a history, and it appears Cena is doing his “greatest hits” before he rides off to the sunset. The WWE may still receive backlash for Lesnar the person, so I don’t see them doing a long storyline. They’ll make Cena vs. Lesnar at Clash in Paris so that they can minimize the potential backlash or protests against Lesnar. In the end, the WWE is always a few steps ahead of everyone as they stopped post-PLE (Premium Live Event) press conferences prior to SummerSlam Night 1. Doing this avoids them having to answer any questions that they may not feel comfortable answering. The Lesnar return would have put him in an uncomfortable position if he had to answer any questions about what is going on outside of the ring. Lesnar’s return is going to be good for business as long as they keep his return short and end it with the Clash in Paris PLE.

Cubs Predicted To Sign Star Outfielder To Mega-Deal This Winter

It has been a fantastic season for the Chicago Cubs, and a significant reason is because of a singular offseason decision. After winning 83 games the past two seasons, the Cubs got aggressive during the offseason to improve. Chicago was a team that was heading in the right direction but lacking a superstar to help push them over the top. To the surprise of many, they were able to accomplish that with a blockbuster trade that brought Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros in. Before being traded to Chicago, Tucker was establishing himself as a star with the Astros, but he may have flown under the radar a bit with some other big names on the team. For four straight years, he was able to total a bWAR of 4.5 or higher, with his bWAR being over 5.0 in three of those campaigns. Even though he might not have been a national name before the trade, Tucker was a key part of the success for Houston. Tucker's cost The price to acquire him certainly wasn’t cheap for the Cubs. They sent three very good players to the Astros, with Isaac Paredes and Cam Smith both having a massive impact already for Houston. It was a steep price for a player entering the final year of his contract, and that is something that is still looming over the heads of the organization. Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report recently predicted that Tucker would sign an 11-year, $441 million deal this offseason to remain with the Cubs. “Without so much as a close runner-up, Kyle Tucker is the crown jewel of this year's free agency class.” While the numbers might seem big for the proposed contract, Tucker is a true star in the game and is going to certainly be getting north of $400 million. When looking at the recent contract extension for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays, he is going to be making an average salary of just over $35 million per year throughout his contract. That seems like a fair spot to start for Tucker, who is going to be the top prize in free agency. Luckily, what could end up benefiting the Cubs is that there might not be a ton of competition to sign him in free agency. Juan Soto’s price went through the roof with the New York Mets and New York Yankees both pursuing him last winter. However, as of now, the market for Tucker might not be as crazy as it has been in recent years. For the Cubs, keeping Tucker this winter is going to be their top priority and would be a crushing blow if they lost him in free agency. Milwaukee Brewers: Nestor Cortes Gone, Standout Rookie 3B Has Emerged as Gem from Would-Be Lose-Lose Trade

Starting pitcher Nestor Cortes was the centerpiece of the Milwaukee Brewers‘ return haul from trading co-closer Devin Williams to the Yankees last December. Eight months later, Cortes is a member of the Padres, logging all of two starts in Milwaukee before injuries sapped his season. Over in New York, Williams lost his closer’s job, got it back, and has had one good month en route to a 5.04 ERA. Without the other part of Milwaukee’s incoming package, then minor-league third baseman Caleb Durbin, the trade would look at this juncture like a lose-lose scenario. Thanks to Durbin, it’s been anything but for the Brewers. Caleb Durbin is Milwaukee Brewers’ diamond in the rough Durbin didn’t make the spring training cut. Instead, the Brewers went with fellow rookie Oliver Dunn as the team’s starting third baseman. Durbin went down to Triple-A Nashville. Dunn didn’t last. After he struggled through the first three weeks of the season, he and Durbin switched places and the latter hasn’t squandered his shot. Following a slow start, he’s turned up the heat at the dish while playing outstanding defense. He’s had an OPS around .800 for over two months now and has his season slashline up to .263/.344/.372. His 2.2 WAR in 86 games played is tied for 10th among all third basemen, making him one of the position’s more valuable players. The Brewers saw plenty of promise in Durbin when they traded for him, coming off a strong season with New York’s Triple-A affiliate. Even though he didn’t, he was a decent candidate to make the team out of spring. The team likely didn’t see a legitimate Rookie of the Year candidate, which he is. By WAR, he and Braves catcher Drake Baldwin have contributed the same value to their teams, more than any other NL rookies. Cortes, on the other hand, was supposed to be a consistent cog in the rotation. Last year for the Yankees, he made 30 starts and recorded a 3.77 ERA. Instead, he’s still making his way back from injury ahead of start number three this season. In San Diego. Of course, Milwaukee did turn him into outfielder Brandon Lockridge, who will provide depth while Jackson Chourio is hurt. To dump Cortes’ salary, however, they had to attach a prospect, infielder Jorge Quintana. Neither Cortes nor Williams has been what the receiving team hoped. Both will be free agents this offseason. Only the Yankees, however, are at risk of walking away empty-handed. With years of team control remaining, the Brewers have in Durbin what looks to be their third baseman of both the present and future. The trade didn’t deliver according to expectations, but it’s hard to be too upset with the results.

'Superman' VOD Home Streaming Date Confirmed and It's Shockingly Soon

In a move that seems faster than a speeding bullet, the new 2025 Superman movie will be available to watch at home just over a month after it hit theaters on July 11. According to multiple outlets, including World of Reel, the new Superman reboot movie will be available for video-on-demand (VOD) purchase starting very soon. In fact, the movie will almost certainly still be in theaters when you can watch it at home. Superman Streaming/VOD release date DC Studios' Superman, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, will be available for purchase digitally starting on August 15, 2025. This means that just over 30 days after its first theatrical release, the new Superman is coming home. To be clear, this is not the same as streaming on HBO Max, but it does mean you'll be able to pony up a certain amount of money (close to the price of two movie tickets) to watch the movie at home. Purchase of VOD movies generally happens on iTunes, Amazon, and other platforms. DC vs. Marvel VOD releases If this home video release seems quick, it is. For comparison, the last two Marvel superhero movies had nearly two months, not one, between theatrical release and VOD release. Thunderbolts* hit theaters on May 2, and was on VOD on July 1. Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World was in theaters on February 14, and on VOD on April 15. Both of those films were deemed, in the eyes of box office pundits, to be failures, while Superman is generally considered to be a success.
